His Splendor
His Splendor, by Nancy Cupp, is an acrylic painting of a peacock spreading it's tail.

His Splendor

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Revelation 4:8 KJV

Peacocks are so beautiful. Their iridescent feathers look like eyes with hearts in the center. To paint this, I studied some peacock feathers that I have. The more I looked at the feathers, the more frustrated I became because the colors of the feathers kept changing in various lighting conditions. I experimented with some iridescent paints that also change color in the light, to use in the painting.  When I finished the painting, I called it His Splendor because of the magnificent beauty of this bird.  As you look at the original painting, the colors change as you look at it from various viewpoints and different lighting.

The Bible says there are four angelic beings around the throne in Heaven, whose only job throughout eternity is to say one phrase over and over…

Holy, Holy Holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come!  Revelations 4:8

These angels never tire of saying this because they are revealing a new aspect of God’s glory each time they say it. The diamond, as an example, sparkles as it turns in the light. A new revelation of God’s magnificent splendor and glory is revealed throughout eternity and we will never have enough words to describe Him.

These four angelic beings also have six wings full of eyes, round about and within, (underneath the wings), which reminds me of the eyes on the peacock.  The “pupil” of the eyes on the tail of the peacock are heart shaped, reminding me of God’s love. Creation once again points to the Creator for those with eyes to see God's magnificent glory and beauty. Oh, the wonders of His Splendor!
