MY CUP RUNNETH OVER: original painting
My Cup Runneth Over
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psalm 23:5.
I painted this during a very difficult time in our lives but we put our faith in Jesus and He gave us hope when all seemed lost.
One day I was reading Psalm 23 and it hit me about verse five. When we reach out to Jesus and hold our cup up for Him to fill it...He doesn’t stop pouring when the cup gets full. He keeps pouring it out to overflowing as long as we keep reaching out to Him. His blessings are not a faucet that you turn off and on. His blessings are like a huge waterfall that continually flows. It is up to us to catch the blessings, by getting into His presence and seeking His face.
To paint this, I used myself as a model. I asked my husband to bring out the garden hose and stand on the front porch while I stood below on the driveway and held up my glass in my left hand and took a picture with my camera in my right hand. It was not easy to hold a camera steady with one hand and click it at the same time, especially since I’m left handed. How it got the sharp details of the bubbles, I will never understand, but, it worked!
