THE BROKEN VESSEL: post cards
This painting was inspired by a vision I had in 2007 when I was asked to minister on my harp for a church north of Detroit. Everything was going wrong that day, and I felt like I had nothing left to share, but, as I prayed for God’s help, I asked him to use me as a vessel for his glory, even though I felt like a useless broken vessel. Suddenly I saw a broken vase full of holes and cracks. God’s light was shining so brightly through the cracks that the vase faded away in the brilliant light.
I want people to see Jesus instead of me. The more “cracks and holes” we have, the more God's compassion and love can shine through us. If our lives have never been broken, there is nothing for God’s light to shine through. In our weakness, He is made strong. When we submit and humble ourselves to Him, then His love can shine through us and bring hope, comfort, and healing to others.
“Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.”
(2 Corinthians 4:6-7)
